We are all faking it, hiding substantive emotions behind our synchronized, plastered smiles. We veer far from masochism, not being able to bear the thought of pain, let alone the concrete feeling itself. More than that, we have this belief where we cannot let others in; that notion stems from the fear the if we do so, we will ultimately end up vulnerable. If we are so afraid of getting hurt, we will never have the opportunity to experience all that life has to accord, both the good and the bad. We will never really be able to live and grow in our experiences, only regress. And to not live up to our potential is the reason why so many of us are depressed unhappy.
